Meet Anja

[✎ Your story: where you grew up, when you started painting, what made you keep going, and what painting means to you.]
My paintings are about the shadow self: the parts of us we hide, deny, or never quite look at. Each one is an archetype. The Lover, aching to be held. The Creator, dreaming more than making. The Last Laugh, smiling over his own pain. The Caregiver, giving until there is nothing left. I paint them distorted and raw, because that is how those feelings really look from the inside. Francis Bacon showed me that a scream can be beautiful.
When someone looks at my work, I hope they find a part of themselves they recognise, even the part they would rather not see.
