The Corridor, installed above a sofa

“The Corridor”

100 × 74 cm (39.4 × 29.1 in)

Acrylic on canvas

The Corridor is the hallway inside us that no one else is allowed to walk. Behind its closed doors live the thoughts we keep locked away from the world: strange, distorted, too freakish to ever see the light of day. Here, by candlelight, they roam freely. One leans against the wall, one crawls along the red carpet toward a door that never opens, and the others simply wait. Everyone has a corridor like this. Most of us spend our lives making sure the doors stay shut.
