The Last Laugh, installed in a room

“The Last Laugh”

45 × 60 cm (17.7 × 23.6 in)

Acrylic on canvas

The Last Laugh is the part of us that keeps everyone else smiling. He is the clown of the room, quick with a grin and a punchline, always the one holding the mood together. But the paint is starting to run. Beneath the white mask, his smile melts into long, pale tears, and the face he has hidden behind for so long is slipping away. He is the shadow in anyone who has ever laughed the loudest on their worst day: the pain we disguise so well that even we begin to forget it is there.
